# Memelord Dev Portal > Memelord is an AI meme generator: a searchable template library, image and video meme generation, pro video models, and Jester, the Memelord agent. Agents integrate through a hosted MCP server or a REST API; this index points at the developer docs so nothing has to be scraped from HTML. How to integrate, in order of preference: - **MCP (preferred).** The hosted Memelord MCP server is `https://www.memelord.com/api/mcp` (Streamable HTTP; nothing to install). Authenticate either by OAuth browser sign-in (add the URL, click Connect, approve the consent screen; tokens refresh themselves) or with an API key sent as `Authorization: Bearer mlord_live_…` for scripts, CI, and headless agents. Keys are created at https://www.memelord.com/settings/developer. - **REST.** For HTTP clients and API integrations, the `/api/v1/*` endpoints documented on the API Docs page take the same `mlord_live_` bearer key. The Tools API section (https://www.memelord.com/hackers/docs#tools-api) exposes every MCP tool an API key can use as a REST endpoint — `GET /api/v1/templates/search`, `POST /api/v1/memes/caption`, `POST /api/v1/video-memes`, `GET /api/v1/video-jobs/{job_id}`, `POST /api/v1/jester/run`, … — described by the OpenAPI 3.1 document at `https://www.memelord.com/api/v1/openapi.json` (OAuth tokens are MCP-only). The older endpoints stay: `POST /api/v1/ai-meme`, `POST /api/v1/ai-meme/edit`, `POST /api/v1/ai-video-meme`, `POST /api/v1/ai-video-meme/edit`, plus `GET /api/video/render/remote?jobId=…` to poll video renders. - **Hermes.** Connect a Hermes agent with the Hermes connector (the "Add to Hermes" link, or an `mcp_servers` entry in `~/.hermes/config.yaml` with `auth: oauth`) or point it at the hosted MCP URL above; Hermes reads the full tool surface from the server. Billing: billable tools draw from the account's usage balance based on the underlying generation cost. Over MCP, discovery, media uploads, render status, and account info are free so an agent can plan before it spends: `search_memes`, `get_meme_template`, `get_trending_memes`, `list_image_tools`, `upload_media`, `create_media_upload_url`, `check_video_status`, `list_video_jobs`, `list_video_models`, and `get_account`. Everything that generates or edits is billable. When the balance is empty, billable tools return a clear error and the free tools keep working. Every tool returns results as URLs; there is no folder or save-to-library storage over MCP. ## Start here - [Hackers home](https://www.memelord.com/hackers): Dev Portal landing page with a card for every section below - [MCP & Skills (Markdown)](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/mcp.md): hosted MCP server setup for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and Muse; OAuth vs API key; full tool table with cost and API-key availability - [MCP & Skills](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/mcp): HTML version of the MCP docs - [API Docs (Markdown)](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/docs.md): REST reference: authentication, the Tools API (every MCP tool as a REST endpoint, with endpoint table, examples, and status codes), image meme generate and edit, video meme generate and edit, webhook payload, render-job polling - [API Docs](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/docs): HTML version of the REST reference, including the live per-model pricing table - [Tools API](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/docs#tools-api): the section of the API Docs that lists every MCP tool as a REST endpoint under /api/v1, with examples and status codes - [Tools API OpenAPI document](https://www.memelord.com/api/v1/openapi.json): OpenAPI 3.1 for the Tools API endpoints, generated from the live tool registry; operationId is the MCP tool name ## Playbooks and integrations - [Playbook for Hermes x Memelord](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/hermes-memelord): connect a Hermes agent via the Hermes connector or the hosted MCP; config.yaml entry, `hermes mcp login`, demo, and tool overview - [OpenClaw skill](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/openclaw): `openclaw install iamjasonlevin/memelord` with `MEMELORD_API_KEY`; works with Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, Codex, and other OpenClaw-compatible agents - [Memelord Grok Bot](https://x.ai/bot/9MGTLhR6dzLrr6AWd8U1f): chat-first option on x.ai; image and video memes powered by the API, no code - [Webhook delivery](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/webhooks): flat JSON payload POSTed to your endpoint when a mission completes; headers, schema, and example - [Demos & samples](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/demos): BreakingMemes, NBA Live Meme Reactor, POV Machine, Weather Meme, memebot1337, and other apps built on the API ## Account - [Developer settings](https://www.memelord.com/settings/developer): create and revoke `mlord_live_` API keys; disconnect OAuth apps under Connected Apps (sign-in required) - [Usage](https://www.memelord.com/settings/usage): current usage balance and spend (sign-in required) - [Apply for free usage](https://www.memelord.com/hackers/docs#apply-for-free-usage): developer usage credits application ## Optional - [HumorBench](https://www.memelord.com/humorbench): Memelord's benchmark of which AI is actually funny; blind arena voting on memes rendered through the API - [OAuth protected resource metadata](https://www.memelord.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/api/mcp): RFC 9728 document MCP clients use to discover the authorization server for `/api/mcp` - [OAuth authorization server metadata](https://www.memelord.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server): RFC 8414 metadata; dynamic client registration and PKCE are supported - [Clawhub listing](https://clawhub.ai/iamjasonlevin/memelord): source listing of the OpenClaw skill - [Site llms.txt](https://www.memelord.com/llms.txt): site-wide index that points back here
